Back To School: Edgy

You can not deny that the 90s are back!
Over the past few years we've been seeing a lot more leather and neon colors, straight from the 80s.  But I'd say for the past year, especially this school season, fashion from the 90s have taken over the mall!
I chose this cute and simple H&M top ($13) because it's acceptable for school, yet it's still playful and very versatile.  By adding the faux leather H&M skirt ($23) it gives the whole outfit an edgy vibe without being too over the top.  The red Converse ($70) keep it casual and add a pop of color.  I'm in love with this backpack from Warehouse ($59), it's simple and because it has the gold accents it matches everything! The cross necklace by Lori's Shoes ($15) brings back the edgy vibe and pairing it with the gold chain by Adia Kibur ($70) adds another touch of the 90s.  The Nikki Baker ring ($150) is a tad pricey, but I love investing in quality rings and this one is gorgeous.  One of my favorite nail varnishes at the moment is actually Penny Talk by Essie ($8) and it adds a bit to the outfit without drawing too much attention away.  Then last but certainly not least is the flower crown!  I am obsessed with this gorgeous rose crown from Asos ($64), yes it's up there in price but it's so worth it.  It's obviously a statement piece, so totally own the look and feel confident when rocking it!
One thing I love about this outfit is how every piece is something that you can mix and match to get your use out of!  Whether it's a pair of jeans or a pair of heels that you swap in, you can change this look so easily.

Review: Revlon Nail Polish "Zealous"

I've on the hunt for a fairly cheap unique nail color lately, and I found my new favorite!

The actual color is darker, but it was hard to capture the true color.

Zealous is a bright yellow with a hint of lime, so it's interesting and eye catching.  I love the bottle, brush, and formula of the nail polish!  It's not too thick, and I did have to put on several coats (2-3) but it's a bright color so I was expecting that.  It dries quickly, which was needed since I painted my nails while I was working at the boutique (in my defense the store was dead that Monday morning.)  There is a slight shimmer in the polish that I didn't really notice off the bat, I really love it.

This is the true color!

Honestly, I'm a little annoyed at myself that I didn't discover this color earlier!  It's the perfect spring/summer color, and I'm bummed that it's already August.  I personally love this color, but I feel like it's going to be either a love or hate with others.  I completely recommend Zealous, and I will be purchasing more colors from Revlon's nail polish line!

Valentine's Day Outfit: Romantic Red

1.  Newlook - $36
2. Newlook - $39
3. Juicy Couture - $48
4. Friis & Company - $52
5. Lipstick Queen : Saint Bare Nude - $20
6. Forever21 - $35
7. Butter London : Hoorah Henri - $15

I saw this gorgeous mini dress by Newlook and knew it was the one!  I adore how simple it is, but yet the cut-out adds some spark to its simplicity.  I wanted to keep it formal by adding the blazer, which you could easily swap out for a leather jacket.  I love these wedges, mainly because of the cut-outs and how they add so much without taking away from the dress.  I added these studs from Juicy Couture to add some bling without being too over the top.  I love this clutch from Friis & Company, it's edgy but nothing too much.  I'd keep the makeup simple with a nude lip, and some nude nail varnish.

Will you dress up or casual for Valentine's Day?

Valentine's Day Outfit: Leather & Lace

1. H&M - $55
2. Awwdore - $33
3. Dorothy Perkins - $9
4. Oliver Bonas - $28
5. Pieces / Chantel - $35
6. Nars : Jungle Red - $26
7. New Molly - $40
8. Jeffrey Campbell - $95

I wanted to focus the outfit around a pair of red jeans, so I added the leather studded jacket to give it some edge.  But I wanted to keep it girly so I paired it with this lacey white top and the love ring.  I liked the edgy vibe of the jacket so I added the spiked heels, the earrings, and the clutch!  I love all three items, and I wanted to keep up with the red by adding Jungle Red by Nars to the lips!  Overall it's a pretty easy look to re-create, and you can always substitute items with something you already have in your closet!  Like you don't need the Jeffrey Campbell heels, you could always just wear a pair of black heels or flats you already have.

What will you be wearing this Valentine's Day?

Valentine's Day Gift Ideas

I know I always have my girl friends ask me for gift ideas for their beau, so I thought it'd be cool to make a post about some gift ideas for both boys and gals!  There are so many factors that help decide the price range, such as how long you have been in a relationship or just your income.  So I definitely think that every couple should discuss a price range before exchanging gifts, you don't want that awkward moment when you spend $20 and they spend $200!

His:  Shoes are always a safe choice, you can go simple and classic with a pair of Chuck Taylors or mix it up with a pair of Dr. Martens!  I love both on guys, and you could also get a pair of vans.  Hats are another safe choice, this fedora by Metier is pretty rad, but sadly it's pricey!  This Woolrich beanie is cool, simple, and inexpensive!  These W/SUN sunglasses are so sick and modern looking, keep an eye out this summer because I'm sure they'll be everywhere.  I love me some Burberry cologne, just make sure it's something you and your beau both like before purchasing it. Lastly, these Nicole Miller headphones!  I know I love my Sony over-ear headphones, they sound so much better than in-ear headphones.  You can go inexpensive with the Nicole Miller or Sony headphones, or bump up the price with a pair of Beats.

Hers:  Jewelry is hot hot hot for Valentine's Day, which is why I chose these earrings from Juicy and the necklace from Tiffanys.  The earrings are so gorgeous and inexpensive, but the necklace is adorable and unique!  I also chose a pair of sunglasses for the ladys, I thought these aviators are great!  I love this little clutch by Betsey Johnson, it's so cute and simple.  The Vera Wang Princes perfume is a favorite of mine, and it's such a wonderful smell.  I picked a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Litas because they're so romantic and simple, but yet they're a statement shoe.  Lastly, I picked the set of 4 mini OPI nail varnishes from Sephora!  I love mini sets, that way you can test out different colors or items, you can't go wrong with them!

What are you doing for Valentine's Day?
I don't have any plans yet!

2013 Grammy Awards: Red Carpet

I spent my Sunday night on the couch with me madre watching the Grammys, and I was impressed with the red carpet!  I watched the red carpet live from E! with Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic, George Kotsiopoulos, and Ryan Seacrest and I was impressed with their show this year.

Some of my favorite looks of the evening are:

I love Natasha Bedingfield in this red gown by Emerson Spring 2013.  The gown fits Natasha beautifully, and the cuts add a modern vibe to the vintage feeling of the dress.  She paired a pair of flaming red satin heels with it, and a gold belt to cut the dress up.  I love the way Natasha wore this gown better than the runway!  On the runways it's stunning, but the belt adds so much to the look.

Carley Rae Jepsen and Carrie Underwood both wore Roberto Cavalli.  I think they both look gorgeous and I love how the dresses are similar but yet so different.  Carley's dress is glittery and slick, but it flows as the bottom of the gown becomes sheer.  Carley looked like a total rock-star with her dark locks and eye makeup, it was a favorite for me.

Carrie looked stunning in her detailed gown, I love how when the sheerness starts it has like a sweet heart shape to it.  I just wish the neckline was a sweet heart and I would have preferred her to wear her hair up.

Chris Brown looked hot hot hot dressed head-to-toe in this white suit by Lanvin.  I really love this look on him, and I'm glad that he's having a come back, despite the past I will always love Chris' voice.

Mr. Justin Timberlake looked so sexy in his suit, I currently can't find out who he wore, but I will update when and if I do.  I love his hair and how old school his bow tie is!  I'm also obsessed with his shoes, I'm not even kidding, they're so rad.

Jennifer Lopez looked so young and stunning in this gown by Anthony Vaccarello.  I love how there's so much fabric, but yet that leg is all out there.    The hair and shoes go perfectly with the gown.  I have a feeling people are either going to love or hate this look, I personally love it.

Taylor Swift was a huge disappointment at the Golden Globes this year, but I'm obsessed with her in this J. Mendel gown.  This grecian gown looks absolutely stunning on Taylor, the color and cut fits and complements her perfectly.  I'm really happy that the plunging neckline was cut up thanks to the metallic bodice, and it was softened up by the accordion pleats.  She paired the gown with floral stud earrings and a purple stone bracelet.  She was one of my favorites of the night for sure!

Rihanna looked breath taking in this sizzling red custom-made gown by Azzedine Alaia.  The A-line design with the never-ending train melted into the red carpet.  I love the crossing detailing in the front that continues onto the back.  Her hair and the train of the dress make it so romantic feeling, but the red lip and the sheerness of the dress spice it up and make it more Rihanna.  She looked and performed incredible tonight at the 2013 Grammy Awards, and she is my choice for best dressed.

My least favorite looks of the evening are:

I don't know what the hell 2 Chainz was thinking when he decided to wear this to the Grammys, but it's a train wreck!  There's so much going on with the hideous jacket and the giant belt..  The only thing I like are his shoes!

First off, I don't even know who D'Manti is, but she looked horrible.  Her dress looks like something my 3 year old cousins would make, it looks like some leaves got caught in a spiders web.  It's just all around bad.

Who are you red carpet favorites for the 2013 Grammy Awards?

70th Annual Golden Globes: Red Carpet

Like I did with the AMAs, I didn't watch the Golden Globes
but I hunted through sites to look at the red carpet!

So one of the first looks I saw was Ms. Amy Poehler, I absolutely adore this woman, she's made me shed tears of laughter too many times to count.  I'm gonna be honest, I was surprised with what she wore tonight but I love it!

Amy looked stunning in this suit by Stella McCartney, I love how daring she was by going topless and she did it with class!  hahah, I'm not going to lie though I'm not a fan of the heels, they're a bit to prom-ish for my liking.

I'm a huge fan of Bradley Cooper, he's an outstanding actor and he's just beautiful!  I love everything about his red carpet look tonight!  He looked pretty dapper by wearing a tux by Tom Ford, which is apparently eco friendly?  Cool beans, I have no idea how it is but I think it's awesome that they're raising awareness by doing so.

I haven't seen Modern Family, but I always look forward to seeing Sarah Hyland on the red carpet.  I remember reading an article about her a while back about how she had major kidney problems and even got a transplant, but she worked through it!  That's crazy!  Well, like usual she looked stunning tonight in this Max Azria gown.  She bared a lot of cleavage, but I think it was done tastefully and I love that dress.  I think it gives her curves in all of the right places, and the texture on the torso adds dimension without it being over-bearing.  She made a good choice by wearing her hair down and her makeup was perfect.

Michelle Dockery looked absolutely breath-taking in this Alexandre Vauthier gown.  I had no idea who she was until I looked her up, and she is a part of the Downton Abbey cast.  I love how she kept the look calm with simple jewelry, hair and makeup so it all let the dress be the focus tonight.  The white and gold gown by Vautheir has to be my favorite since Mila Kunis wore the pale lavender sheer chiffon gown from Elie Saab at the 2011 Oscars.  The gold detailing is just beautiful, and I love how it has a high neck, ahhh words cannot explain how much I love this dress.  Michelle Dockery is my choice for best dressed for the 70th Annual Golden Globes!

Some of my other favorites:

Giuliana Rancic in Celia Kritharioti
I personally love the look, she took a huge risk by wearing this gown.

Lea Michele in Elie Saab
Lea knows how to rock the carpet, and constantly does fantastic.  Like usual, she looked amazing tonight.

Nicole Richie in Naeem Khan
I'm not a fan of blue eyeshadow at all, I actually hate it, but Nicole matched her eyeshadow to her gown tonight and it looks gorgeous!!! She rocked this Naeem Khan gown, but I would have preferred for her to wear her hair up.

Jennifer Lopez in  Zuhair Murad
Jennifer showed off her curves in this sheer lace gown, I'm usually not a big fan of gowns similar to this one but it just looks amazing.  The gown fits her so perfectly, it looks like the lace is painted on her body!

Worst Dressed:

Rachel Weisz in Louis Vuitton
At first glace I adored this look, that was until I saw how ill fitting it looks.  The bottom part of the dress looks like something that I'd sew on, and I can't sew!  I just would expect more from Louis Vuitton.

Jessica Chastain in  Calvin Klein Collection
She looks lovely in this color, but the gown doesn't fit her!  It makes her look frumpy, I wish her hair would have been pulled up too.

Amy Adams in Marchesa
I love the gown itself, but the color is horrid!  It's too close to her skin tone, and it makes her look ill.

Taylor Swift in Donna Karan Atelier
Taylor looks lovely in eggplant, but I hate the front of the dress.  It doesn't fit her at all, and the neckline is just awkward.. Maybe it's just the way she's standing, I just can't stand the front of the dress.  I love the open back though!  I also love the strip of sheerness on her leg, I just can't get over the hideous shape it gives Taylor.

Overall I'd say I was pretty happy with the 70th Annual Golden Globes red carpet!

Who were your best/worst dressed?

2013 Color Of The Year: Emerald

Pantone has named emerald as the color of the year!
2012's color of the year has been Tangerine Tango, and in 2011 it was Honeysuckle.
I really love their decision, Emerald is such a gorgeous statement color.  I have barely any shades of green in my closet, I think I might have 1 shirt and that's it.  So I figured I'd find some ideas and options to add to your closet this upcoming year!

1. Coach - $348
2. Bows-R-Us - $2.78
3. Kyle Chan - $98
4. Vintage Princess Leather - $255
5. Michael Kors - $450
6. Mossimo - $25
7. Jade Jagger - $5,862
8. Marc by Marc Jacobs - $380
9. Lime Crime -Forest Green Poison Ivy

I am in love with this gorgeous coat by Coach, too bad I don't have the moola to purchase it, but I totally recommend adding it to your holiday wish-list!  I think the emerald hair bow is just adorable and it's super easy to add to any outfit, same goes with the Kyle Chan earrings.  I'm in love with both of these handbags, they're just lovely.  The Mossimo flats are from Target, so cute and inexpensive!!  Now sadly this Jade Jagger bracelet is worth more than my car, but it's still absolutely gorgeous.  So the holidays are upon us, so why not show your holiday spirit with this great sweater!  I am obsessed with sweaters at the moment!  I came across this lip color and I fell in love, I'm not even kidding.  I don't think I have the guts to pull off such a bold color, but I want it so badly.
1. Mango - $39
2. Jennifer Miller - $150
3. Marc by Marc Jacobs - $482
4. Jeffrey Campbell - $210
5. Tank Top: Buckle - $24
   Skirt: Red Label - $32

If you know me personally, than you know that I'm obsessed with peacock feathers (I had peacocks growing up).  So I of course had to choose this skirt by Red Label, which I paired with a black tank-top and a leather jacket.  I threw in some more emerald with these earrings, and added some more edge with these Jeffrey Campbell studded flats!  I finished the look with a lovely bright Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag, and that's the first look!
1. River Island - $72
2. Michael Kors - $450
3. Joanie's - $40
4. Brian Atwood - $325
5. Modcloth - $53

I think this Modcloth dress is so adorable and casual, but I wanted to dress it up a bit by adding a blazer and a pair of black heels.  I chose this really cute clutch by Michael Kors, I love how it is texturized!  Then I added this really cute bangle for a little bling, obviously this means you have to roll up the blazer's sleeves so you can see the bangle!

Will you be adding emerald to your closet?
